Job summary

Kansas City Christian School is seeking an After School Care Associate to supervise students in grades 1–6, support homework, and lead activities in a faith-based setting.

This part-time role covers 3:00–5:30 PM on full school days, with flexibility for 2–4 days per week. The position emphasizes safety, structured routines, and positive, Christ-centered interactions with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college coursework or a degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with elementary age children in school, childcare, or camp setting preferred.
• Genuine, personal Christian faith and a willingness to model that faith for students.
• Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain CPR/First Aid certification if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in grades 1–6 during after school care hours, ensuring their safety.
• Support a structured daily routine including homework time, physical activity, and creative play.
• Build positive, encouraging relationships reflecting a Christian model of care.
• Assist students with homework and academic tasks as needed.
• Lead or assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
• Manage check-in/check-out procedures and maintain attendance records.
• Communicate clearly with parents about the day and concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe after-care space and follow safety protocols.
• Enforce school behavior expectations with grace and consistency.
• Respond to minor injuries or incidents per school protocol and report as required.
• Collaborate with other After Care staff and faculty for smooth transitions from school day to after care.
• Support late pickup procedures in accordance with school policy.
