  • Independent School District 624 announces a vacancy at North Star Elementary for a 1st/2nd Grade Multiage Teacher (1.0 FTE) starting the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Salary Range: Per the Educator Agreement Salary Schedule
  • Start Date: August 25, 2025. This position will remain open until filled.

  • Position Summary:
  • Specific to North Star Elementary
  • North Star Elementary is a recently built elementary school in the White Bear Lake Area School District, located off Hwy 61, north of Hugo, MN.
  • North Star Elementary's programming goal is to obtain a highly collaborative work environment that embraces innovation and personalized instruction within an inclusive multiage learning community.
  • Programming is established by studio teams guided by state standards and district curriculum. Individual teachers are not assigned to one particular classroom but collaborate with a team of studio teachers, including teachers in SpEd, Intervention, and Specialists, to utilize the studio's theme-based classrooms in a creative, fluid format meeting the specific needs of the students assigned to that studio. Because of this format, teacher teams must plan and interact in a highly collaborative manner beyond that of a traditional setting.
  • Instructional learning is based on multiage state standards supporting students emotionally, socially, and instructionally over a 2-year period before moving onto the next studio level.
  • Innovative programming includes project-based and STEAM activities established within an inclusive learning environment that provides sensory support as needed.
  • Although each studio teacher will be assigned to a home-based group of students within the studio format, it's important to recognize that the teacher is responsible for a team-based instructional model that impacts all students assigned within the studio.
  • Overall Teacher Expectations
  • Performs professional work providing a broad range of teaching services or specific learning programs, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student's ability, using a variety of teaching methods at various levels. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal, with occasional oversight over paraprofessionals or volunteers.
