Job Summary
Provides direct and indirect patient care facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation. Assists physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring and circulating roles. Provides patient/family centered care within scope of practice. Adheres to all compliance and policy/procedures of the organization. May require late stay shifts and on-call work.This position is bonus eligible, follow this link for details.
Essential Functions

Accomplishes monitoring duties.Monitors patient’s electrocardiogram and reports rhythm disturbances to physician.Monitor and record intracardiac and intravascular pressures.
Accomplishes scrub duties.Practices sterile techniques.Ensures tasks are accomplished efficiently and accurately.Assists and anticipates needs of physician.
Prepares procedure room using infection control guidelines.Ensures radiation protection techniques are followed.Performs accurate set-up of EP equipment.Ensures proper use of RF generator and stimulator.Accurately places electrodes, defibrillator and appropriate groundpads on patient for monitoring.Checks prep for accuracy.Checks patient chart for correct permit.Performs quality equipment checks daily.
Assists with recovery duties.Obtains hemostasis as needed.Safely returns patients to room or nursing unit after procedure when necessary.Checks for pedal pulse and bleeding.Ensures that patient is comfortable. Ensures other team members are informed of patient status.
Orders and restocks supplies.Retrieves supplies from Central Supply and Material Services as needed.Compares case load and on-hand supplies and obtains needed supplies.Ensures instruments are cleaned and prepared for Central Supply per department Policy and Infection Control.
Ensures appropriate surveillance of assigned patients; identifies barriers related to specific care issues and seeks assistance as appropriate, thereby maintaining quality and patient safety.
For individuals credentialed as RCIS, the following job duties from the RCIS Scope of Practice may be included after competency demonstrated to physician:Venous access, vascular sheath exchange, suturing of implantable cardiac device pocket, and manipulation of intracardiac catheters with physician supervision
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Successful completion of a health sciences program
Experience - Two (2) years EP or Cardiac Cath Lab experience
In Lieu Of
Military or certificate program with two (2) years cardiovascular experience may be considered. Eligible for RCIS/RCES with completion within one (1) year.
Team members employed in this 11/8/2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Arrhythmia competency
Basic computer skills
Data entry skills
Working knowledge of patient equipment
Understands mechanics of arrhythmias.
Understands mapping techniques for ablation of arrhythmias.
Knowledge of intracardiac electrical signals and 3-D mapping systems.
Able to demonstrate clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices/research in all areas of Electrophysiology.
Able to maintains professional licensure and take personal accountability for maintaining competency through education and professional activities.
