Job summary

IHA is seeking an Electrophysiology Assistant for Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital in Michigan. You will provide care for cardiac patients with pacemakers and related devices, coordinating with EP physicians and nurses in a fast-paced setting.

Daily responsibilities include remote device monitoring, triage support, and patient education. The role requires a Bachelor's in Exercise Science-like field and at least 3 years of cardiology experience, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years progressive cardiology experience.
• Proficient in computers and web-based sites for remote pacemaker/loop recorder troubleshooting.
• Positive attitude towards health care team and diverse patient populations.
• Ability to manage a chaotic environment with acute, chronic and complex disease processes.

Responsibilities

• Recognize abnormalities in recordings and follow protocol driven follow-through.
• Remote follow-ups on pacemakers and loop recorders with documented reporting.
• Take triage calls and respond appropriately with MDs and nurses.
• Assist in research studies as directed by EP team.
• Provide patient education via lectures, handouts and hands-on training for remote downloads.
• Train patients and families in home monitoring systems and be the office resource for questions.
• Coordinate with vendors to keep remote sites updated and support patient follow-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned by EP MDs and supervisors.

Position Purpose

To provide direct and indirect care of the cardiac patient with cardiac pacemakers, loop recorders and ICD devices in accordance with the department policies and procedures. Collaborate with the device RN’s and Electrophysiology MD’s as well as other disciplines in order to provide quality and continuous care. Have a high level of decision making and autonomy. Experience with diagnosing various arrhythmias is a must.

Shifts Available: Day Shift

Status Available: Full time, 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Education: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years progressive cardiology experience.
• To be proficient in the use of computers and web based sites in the investigation / trouble shooting of remote scanning of pacemakers and loop recorders.
• To maintain a positive attitude towards health care team members and diverse patient populations.
• To have the ability to manage a sometimes chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs with acute, chronic and complex disease processes.

What The Electrophysiology Assistant Will Do

• Recognize abnormalities in recordings and be responsible for protocol driven follow thru.
• Remote follow-ups on pacemakers and loop recorders. Review the remotes and report abnormalities to the appropriate person with documented follow-up.
• Take triage calls when asked and respond appropriately to the given situation. Ability to critically think thru patient concerns, questions, or signs and symptoms and follow-thru with MD’s and nurses on the patients behalf.
• Perform clinical duties as required to assist in research studies. (as directed by the Device RN and /or the Research Department.)
• Provide patient education via lectures, handouts and hands–on experience for the training
• of all remote downloads. Training individual patients and family’s on the use of various in-home monitoring systems and be the office resource for calls / questions.
• Coordinates with the TTM tech and vendors to keep all remote websites updated and assists with appropriate patient follow-up.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the EP MD’s, Clinical Supervisor and /or Director of Operations
