Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering 170+ programs and preparing students for technician careers. We seek part-time instructors to teach electronics technology, including DC-AC circuits, analog/digital electronics, devices, microprocessors, or fabrication techniques.

Positions are in the STEM Pathway; assignments vary by department needs, with starting wage of $40 per course hour plus prep time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with Bachelor's in any discipline.
  • Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with seven years (14,000 hours) of experience and training, including one year of Supervision/Management in Electronic Technology - Project management, Service or Production Testing.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent (4000 hours) experience in Electronic Technology - Design Development, Service, or Production Testing.
  • One of: at least one year of work experience within last five years OR two years of teaching Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics course work at the post-secondary level within last five years.
  • Industry or Vendor Preferred Certification or Licensure: Certified IPC Trainer (CIT).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with Bachelor's in any discipline
Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with seven years of experience and training, including one year of Supervision/Management in Electronic Technology - Project management, Service or Production Testing
