Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, PCBA (STARLINK)

At SpaceX we’re leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 4M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class technicians to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

  • Component kitting and measurement.
  • Run thermal and functional testing of electronic hardware, including setup, instrumentation, test execution, teardown, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the development of prototype test capabilities for component development and life tests.
  • Support engineering to drive the root cause of production yield issues and improve delivered avionics hardware quality. Thoroughly document failure modes and use data to continually improve quality.
  • Build small electrical sub-assemblies.
  • Ensure production equipment is maintained and calibrated via scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Manage schedule priorities and independently execute work to meet company deliverables.

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of hands-on work experience with electromechanical tools, assembly, or testing.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, integration, or mechanical assembly experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures/work instructions; schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
  • Able to proficiently use a PC, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office suite, ERP and related programs.
  • Experience with electrical wiring.
  • Soldering proficiency including IPC and/or J-STD certification.
  • Experience setting up and running tests and experiments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times 1st shift: 5 AM - 3:30 PM; 2nd shift: 3:30 PM - 2 AM.
  • Repetitive assembly operations, standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.
