Job summary

Sierra Management and Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled technician in Saint Inigoes, MD to support CI&IDS division tasks for the U.S. Navy IFF program.

You will inspect and certify boards, troubleshoot using drawings and electronics theory, and perform shipboard installs and tests on AN/UPX-29 and related systems. Must have a high school diploma with 4+ years of related experience and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and at least four years of related experience.
• Current Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Working knowledge of basic electronic theory.
• Experience troubleshooting electronic systems and aligning/adjusting electronic equipment.
• Experience with basic test equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, synchro testers, VSWR testers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and certify basic circuit boards and systems per test requirements.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions using drawings, electronics theory, and test equipment.
• Test AN/UPX-29 systems and variants including OE-120 and AN/UPX-24.
• Perform shipboard installations and test/certification events.
• Write test/evaluation, engineering, and quality reports.
• Assist IFF system assessments and upgrade activities on Navy ships or sites.
• Communicate with ship’s force, government customers, and project leads.
• Teach and assist IFF technicians with a positive approach.

Job description

About the Role:

You will directly support the Combat, Integration, and Identification Systems (CI&IDS) Division located in Saint Inigoes, Md. (NAVAIR Webster Airfield), and perform a wide variety of electronics-based tasking in support of the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Modernization Program and the ISEA for the AN/UPX-29(V) Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system.

Sample Tasking:

• Inspecting, testing, and certifying basic circuit boards and systems for compliance with system test requirements.
• Troubleshooting malfunctions using applicable drawings, knowledge of electronics theory, and test equipment such as multi-meters, cable testers, oscilloscopes, and synchro testers.
• Test AN/UPX-29 systems including the AN/UPX-24 system variants and the OE-120() system variants.
• Perform shipboard installations and test and certification events.
• Write test and evaluation, engineering, and quality deficiency reports.
• Performing IFF system assessments such as ALOA’s, CSSQT’s, and MCA’s.
• Supporting IFF Mode 5 and Mode S system upgrades on board Navy ships or land-based sites.
• Communicating with ship’s force, government customers, and BAE Systems project leads in a professional manner.
• Teach and assist IFF technicians of all skill levels with a positive attitude and a willingness to invest in the future of our expanding company.

Must have:

CONTRACT SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

• Experience with shipboard, aircraft or ground based IFF systems.
• Navy NEC 1572 AIMS technician and/or NEC 1571 AN/UPX-29(V) Ship System Maintainer, or NAVY NEC V06B AN/UPX-29(V) Ship System Maintainer, or other service equivalent.
• Computer troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
• Certified Solder Technician specializing in SMT, lead free and through hole.
• Certified Quality Assurance Inspector for Solder and Cable Fabrication.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards.
• Familiar with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - Maritime (OSHA 1915) training certification.
• Knowledge of RMMCO Alteration Installation Team (AIT) check-in/check-out process or Fleet Modernization Program processes.
