Job summary

King County’s Solid Waste Division seeks a Solid Waste Electronics Technician to diagnose, repair, and optimize electronic systems across landfill and transfer facilities. You’ll use advanced diagnostic tools to evaluate performance, drive system upgrades, and document changes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience working on low-voltage electronic systems.
• Experience diagnosing malfunctions to fire control/detection equipment, perform repairs, test and locate defective components.
• Experience participating in or supporting testing of fire and life safety systems
• Experience troubleshooting, testing, and evaluating electronic weigh scale systems.
• Experience programing and troubleshooting electronic gates.
• Working knowledge of Handbook 44

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain data cables, power cables, and computers; repair lighting units and circuit boards.
• Design and participate in confidence testing of fire and life safety systems, document results.
• Diagnose malfunctions to fire control/detection equipment, perform repairs, and test and locate defective components.
• Test, evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair electronic weigh scale systems and components. Perform preventive maintenance. Repair or replace hardware-related items on the computer weigh scale system.
• Design and implement modifications to existing scale systems.
• Install structural foundations for weigh scales.
• Calibrate scales to meet the specifications and tolerances outlined in Handbook 44.
• Assist Electrician and other staff with electrical troubleshooting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
