Electronics Technician / Craft Tech Intermediate / P2 Scientist-(PFO0004TL)

Your Impact :

We are seeking an electronics technician to join our Fabrication and Calibration team insupport of our Research Laboratory Support (RLS) contract with the U.S. EPA located in Research Triangle Park, NC. This electronics technician will support two onsite electronics shops. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the field of electronic and instrumentation repair.

Responsibilities include :

  • Assist in the building of prototype electronic sensor packages for various types of deployment.
  • Making both small and large soldered and compression electrical and electronic connections.
  • Soldering and unsoldering components from printed circuit boards.
  • Using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to measure voltage, resistance, and impedance among other things.
  • Troubleshooting problems with electronic devices and instrumentation.
  • Assisting in 3D printing.
  • Working from a concept, sketch, drawing or schematic.
  • Building communication cables with specific pinouts.
  • Work on both bench scale projects and field deployments.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have experience working with hand and power tools.
  • This person will be continually learning and developing new skill sets as the research objective change.

Here's What You'll Need :

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Minimum of an associate degree or equivalent training or certificate from a technical school or the military in an electronics field.

Years of experience : 1-3 years in the electronics field

Due to the federal, on-campus requirements of this position, US Citizenship is required.

  • Have strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate service with multiple clients and maintain scheduled progress.
  • Operate efficiently in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Understand and interpret equipment operation manuals and laboratory operating procedures.
  • Understand and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, schematic, or diagram form.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable with troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Maintaining a clean workplace.
  • Maintaining a safe workplace.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 2-5 Years’ experience working in the electronics field in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction.
  • Troubleshooting electronic circuits, devices, or PCBs.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing scientific instrumentation and equipment.
  • Soldering training or experience.
  • Printed Circuit Board building and repairing.
