Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks an electronics technician to perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair on ARMER communications gear and RWIS sensors at statewide sites.

You’ll troubleshoot fault isolation tools, program network equipment, and read complex technical information, with benefits including holidays, vacation, pension, and paid parental leave. Two-year electronics certification or equivalent experience required.

Qualifications

  • Two-year minimum certification in electronics or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of repair, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of fault isolation tools, techniques and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, network operating systems, and capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed technical information.
  • Ability to communicate written and oral technical information.
  • Skills in troubleshooting techniques and handling sensitive electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of data base and data management concepts.
  • Valid (Class D) driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electronic equipment for ARMER and RWIS systems.
  • Program network equipment and diagnose faults.
  • Read and interpret technical information for installations and repair.
  • Communicate technical information to others during repair and maintenance.
