Job summary

Synectic Solutions, Inc. is seeking a qualified engineer to prepare designs and specifications for complex equipment and systems, including building heating systems and electronic components.

The role emphasizes rigorous design work, data analysis, and producing detailed schematics and parts lists. You will conduct tests, develop prototypes, and coordinate test setups to verify feasibility, applying established methods and possibly innovative measurement techniques to improve performance.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • AS/AA degree in engineering technology, math or science or formal electronics training from Technical School or military electronics/communications programs.
  • Six years of recent and relevant experience in a related role.
  • Four years of experience in installation of hardware/equipment.
  • One year of experience in design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings.

  • Prepare designs and specifications for complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system for an office building or solid-state electronics for instrumentation).

  • Conduct tests requiring selection and use of specialized equipment; record data and report problems.
  • Apply methods to research projects; build experimental/prototype models and implement redesigns as needed; analyze data.
  • Design and coordinate test set-ups to prove feasibility of preliminary designs.
  • Use new measurement techniques to improve equipment performance.

Education

AS/AA degree in engineering tech or science
Formal electronics training (Technical School, military A/B)
High School diploma with 3 years relevant experience (substitution)

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Prepare designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid-state devices for instrumentation equipment).
  • Develop or review designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data and applying conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists.
    • Examples of designs include detailed circuit diagrams; hardware fittings or test equipment involving a variety of mechanisms; conventional piping systems; and building site layouts.
  • Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures; preparing and operating equipment; recording data; and measuring and recording problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level and analyzes data and prepares test reports.
  • Apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conducting tests or experiments; developing/implementing redesigns as necessary; and recording and evaluating data and reports findings.
  • Design and coordinate test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design.
  • Use untried and untested measurement techniques; and improves the performance of the equipment.
Education/Experience/Skills
  • U.S. Citizenship and Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Associate degree in engineering technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications.
    • ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: A High School diploma or GED credential and three (3) years of recent and relevant experience related to the labor category description may be substituted for an AS or AA degree. These three (3) years of experience are in addition to the required minimum of six (6) years to meet the “Experience” requirements below, requiring a total of nine (9) years of experience.
  • Six (6) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related role.
  • Four (4) years of experience in installation of hardware and/or equipment.
  • One (1) year of experience in design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Experience may be concurrent.
