Job description

This position is located in Tactical Operations Division, Springfield, VA. The selectee of this position serves as a Electronics Technician. You will be responsible for conducting a variety of technical projects and also represents the U.S. Marshals Service on multi-agency working groups.

GS-13 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).

You may qualify at the GS-0856-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, APCO Project 25 (P25), secure communications systems, satellite communications, GPS tracking technologies, and video surveillance systems supporting law enforcement operations.
• Analyze operational communications requirements by conducting technical surveys, evaluating system capabilities, and developing technical solutions to support tactical and law enforcement or public safety operations.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement communications technology projects, including system deployments, equipment integration, testing, and operational support while ensuring operational readiness.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems involving communications, networking, surveillance, and related electronic systems through testing, preventative maintenance, system optimization, and corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training to users and coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to ensure interoperability, operational effectiveness, and compliance with federal regulations and policy.
