Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking an experienced technician to support research, development and testing of naval electrical and mechanical systems. You will assemble prototypes, operate test equipment, and document results for engineering analyses.

The role requires a high school diploma with 6 years of related experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance; prior Navy sonar experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 6 years of related technical experience in support of R&D or Test & Evaluation (T&E) of U.S. Naval systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • U.S. Navy Submarine Sonar experience.
  • Able to obtain qualification to support underway events.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving testing, analysis and evaluation of materials and processes.
  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Assembles electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and records results.
  • Conducts pierside alteration installation and removals onboard US naval vessels.
  • Effectively interface with engineering, operational, and fleet personnel at all levels.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00/Yr. - USD $90,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
