Job summary

Pima County Facilities Management is hiring multiple Electronics Specialist I to serve as Fire and Intrusion Alarm Technicians. The role involves journeyman-level maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of commercial electronics, with a focus on alarm systems and related equipment.

The position requires an electronics apprenticeship with relevant journeyman experience, and preferred qualifications include NICET certification and experience with access control, CCTV, and NFPA fire alarm

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in electronics plus 1 year journeyman experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Two years with Pima County in Trades Maintenance Specialist II or similar position as determined by the department head.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic systems, controls, instrumentation, and related equipment.
• Performs quality control testing and diagnostic analysis to ensure proper system functionality and makes corrective adjustments as needed.
• Fabricates, modifies, or installs electronic equipment and system components from verbal instructions, sketches, plans, or technical drawings.
• Prepares estimates for repair, maintenance, or special projects based on sketches, plans, and engineering specifications.
• Prepares sketches, diagrams, and documentation to support work performed or proposed.
• Maintains detailed records of activities, services, repairs, and usage of supported equipment and systems.
• Coordinates work activities with other divisions, agencies, or contractors to optimize resources and minimize service disruptions.
• Monitors and evaluates contractor performance and compliance with standards and specifications.
• Trains and assists employees in safe and proper methods of electronic systems maintenance and repair.
• Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations and maintains required protective equipment.
