Job summary

Machine Solutions, Inc. is seeking a skilled Repair Technician III to diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, calibration and workmanship in a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment.

You will follow SOPs, use advanced test equipment, and collaborate with Engineering to implement improvements while maintaining quality and safety standards. On-site position with opportunities to mentor others.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 3–5 years related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
• Experience with electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair circuit boards and electronic/electro-mechanical equipment from customers or in-house kits.
• Perform annual certification/calibration of equipment.
• Train and mentor technicians on test equipment and repair procedures.
• Follow quality systems and SOPs; document failures, diagnoses and repairs.
• Coordinate, plan and assist with offsite training and multi-department projects.

Job Description Summary

Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.

Position Responsibilities

• Evaluate returned products within the guidelines of Vante Quality system and other department policies to determine the cause of failure.
• Follow SOP instructions to complete equipment inspections & repairs.
• Complete equipment repairs through the utilization of various hand tools and test equipment.
• Repair Technician III will be experienced in the use of test equipment such as an oscilloscope, multi-meter, frequency meter, curve tracer, impedance meter or spectrum analyzer.
• Through strong communication and technical skills, train fellow Repair Technicians and implement Engineering improvements and/or fixes based on guidance from the Engineering Team.
• Strong solder skills to replace or solder defective wiring and board level components.
• Mentor and/or train new hire Technicians and lower-level Technicians on Process & Technical requirements.
• Review documentation, create documentation, support the DCR Process for document improvements & updates.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Position Tasks

• Troubleshooting & repairing circuit boards which do not perform as expected on customer owned equipment through the RMA process.
• Troubleshooting and repair of electronic, electro-mechanical equipment returned from customers or on in-house equipment.
• Annual Certification / Calibration on Machine Solutions Manufactured Equipment.
• Participate in improving the work instructions used by RMA Dept. and the QC procedures for existing products.
• Train personnel in the use of test equipment, as needed.
• Read dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
• Compare test results with specifications and make a judgment as to acceptability of a product’s performance.
• Read and comprehend product drawings, schematics, and other graphical descriptions of the electro-mechanical functioning of a product.
• Complete paperwork that communicates what part numbers were used in the repair, what was the cause of failure, how long did it take to repair the product, notes to customers, etc.
• Adhere to policies of quality assurance, safety, biohazard control and cleanliness.
• Support Machine Solution Quality Processes through NCR, CAPA, CAR, etc.. initiatives.
• May be required to perform certain quality control check procedures to assure the product meets performance specifications.
• Coordinates and executes training of entry level and intermediate repair technicians to ensure training on all product lines Vante must repair, in a timely manner.
• Maintains departmental technical documents related to repairs and or history of product design.
• Coordinating, plans and supports Technician training for offsite team members, typically at Vante facility.
• Works on multi-department projects
• At times may need to assist with commissioning and testing of new machines.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/OR Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret assembly instruction, schematics, assembly drawings, general technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, customers and vendors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math, algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
