Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC is seeking a maintenance technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot complex electrical/electronic and mechanical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role requires hands-on PLC programming and VFD troubleshooting, with responsibility for preventive maintenance, documentation, and parts inventories.

The candidate should have a GED or high school diploma and a technical certificate or associate degree, strong math skills, and the ability to read

Qualifications

• GED/High School Diploma is required.
• Associate’s degree, certificate from college, trade school or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is required.
• Must possess basic math skills.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.

Responsibilities

• Assists in troubleshooting and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, temperature controllers, power supplies, VFD’s and test equipment.
• Assists in repairs or adjustments to all machinery in manufacturing area.
• Conduct occasional facility maintenance, service, and repairs in the areas of dock doors, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
• Installs, starts up, and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
• Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
• Maintains company‑required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining tools, spare parts, and inventories.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
• Work in a safe manner always by following company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties when required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
