Job summary

KYOCERA AVX Components Corporation in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, seeks a Materials Science Research Engineer to manage the selection, development, and analysis of materials for electronic components. You will work with ceramic formulations, metal electrodes, and polymers, applying structure–property concepts and processing/characterization techniques.

The role requires project planning, data analysis, and strong communication, with opportunities to lead engineering teams and transfer projects

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
1–5 years in a relevant engineering position, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Team experience preferred — working with mechanical and electrical engineers is desired.
Communication and documentation skills are vital.
Project management tools (Smartsheet, MS Project) and statistical software (Minitab, JMP) are highly desired.

Responsibilities

Conduct experiments with proper materials handling and safe equipment use; summarize results and present findings.
Plan projects: set goals, benchmark, resource and timeline management.
Track progress and report results to collaborators and management.
Transfer successful projects to production with reporting and training.
Collaborate with production, sales, quality, and other groups on issues and solutions.
Evaluate materials and select options, including hazardous waste handling.
