Job summary

DeKalb Health is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Flushing, NY, to provide broad engineering support for released products and production continuity. You will manage ECN/ECR processes, update documentation, and oversee component substitutions while maintaining safety and EMI/EMC compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electro-mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or production engineering.
  • Experience with power supply, electromechanical assembly and test activities preferred.
  • Experience with ICT, Bed-of-Nails fixture design, and Flying Probe methodologies.
  • Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting power supplies in ISO9000 environment.
  • Hands-on ability to perform first-article rework, including soldering/de-soldering of components and mechanical modifications to validate engineering changes before full production release.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Knowledge of Safety and EMI/EMC requirements and their application in power electronics manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECR) initiated by Engineering or Manufacturing and convert them into ECN.
  • Update all technical documentation for released products, including component specifications, schematics, PCB layouts, mechanical drawings, and wire lists.
  • Resolve component shortages and obsolescence for active production.
  • Verify component selections maintain clearance and alignment within the final assembly.
  • Perform the necessary PWB redesigns, revise schematics, and update PCB assembly drawings.
  • Work with engineering to ensure approved footprints and models are used from the vault.
  • Verify all electronic changes within a 3D SolidWorks model for clearance and interference checks.
  • Generate updated 2D CCA assembly drawings and final 2D mechanical drawings.
  • Ensure changes comply with regulatory requirements (UL/IEC and EMI/EMC).
  • Develop assembly instructions using process photography or 3D models.
  • Improve testability with Bed-of-Nails, Flying Probe, and DFT modifications.
  • Maintain ERP data integrity and support Purchasing, Production, and QA with component inquiries.
  • Collaborate with peers to optimize SMT, Through-Hole, and ATE lines; apply DFM for cost efficiency.
