Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Norwalk, IA is seeking a Maintenance Electrician/Elec & Instr L2 (MEL2) to provide electrical and instrumentation maintenance and reliability services within the plant.

You will execute PM, PDM, RCM, precision CM, and operator care programs, while collaborating with ARM, plant teams, and vendors to improve asset health. This role requires NEC journeyman level knowledge, a valid electrical license, and experience with SAP/CMMS.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY:


TheMaintenanceElectrician/Elec & Instr L2(MEL2)provides bothElectricalMaintenance and Reliability services within the plant,executing withexcellence andassistingcriticalelectrical/instrumentationasset health improvement efforts. TheMEL2will ensure results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team,equipment suppliers,and all other plant supportteamsmembers for success.The MEL2 focus responsibilities areassistance, development, and execution of electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, Precision CM, and Operator Care Programs. Other duties will include electrical/instrumentation equipment installation, troubleshooting adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects.The MEL2will carry and keep current any regulatory required licensure (i.e.,ElectricalJourneymanor Maintenance Electrician).This positionis responsible forcomplying withSafety work rules and for reinforcing Safety as a Core Value.Ensures that all policies,procedures,andactivitiesrelated to Food Safety &Qualityare followed andcomplied withuniformly,toreduce product and process variability.This role must be available to work scheduled work times,weekends,andholidays,as necessary.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Participate withelectrical/instrumentationmaintenanceteam membersand tasksto ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, andcost,are continuously being improved to achieve companyobjectives.Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of theMFI & ARMculture.

  • Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance®techniquesensuringprocedural compliance and that job tolerances are met

  • Identify, develop, and implementcriticalelectrical/instrumentationmaintenanceand performance improvement projects

  • Work with CorporateReliabilityTeam to develop, implement,and review real time condition assessment data for all criticalelectrical/instrumentationequipment

  • Activelyparticipateincriticalelectrical/instrumentationequipment maintenancetraining for maintenance personnel

  • Activelyparticipatein followingreliabilityprocedures for criticalelectrical/instrumentationspares and parts

  • Activelyparticipatein followingquality commissioning procedures forcriticalrebuilt or newelectrical/instrumentationequipment

  • Work with vendors in addressingcriticalelectrical/instrumentationissuesidentifiedthrough root cause and condition-based maintenance programs

  • Activelyparticipateandassistcraftsman duringcriticalelectrical/instrumentationmaintenanceassignments

  • Activelyparticipateinelectrical/instrumentationtroubleshooting tasks whileassistingother plant personnel in a teaching environment

  • UtilizeMFI approvedCMMS tomanage, document, andsupportelectrical/instrumentationreliabilityreporting and decision making.This will beaccomplishedthroughthe guidance ofMFI ARM standards.

  • Keepaccurateand up-to-date records (i.e.,SAP data,critical equipment,regulatorydocumentationetc..).

  • Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create anenvironment of continuous asset reliability improvement.

  • Actively holds and sustains regulatory required licensure related toelectrical/instrumentation(i.e.,Journeymanor Maintenance Electrician) and performs required duties to statuteexpectations

  • Understands NEC code to ajourneymanlevel anddemonstratesaccordingly

  • Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture,values,and principles.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent

  • Associate's degree,two-yeartechnical certificate, or relevant combination of experience whichdemonstrateselectrical/instrumentationtechnical and leadership aptitudepreferred

  • 3 to5 years of experience as a maintenanceelectricianwith an emphasis onindustry or manufacturingpreferred

  • Trained andcompetent in MFIMEL1skillspreferred

  • Electrical license orelectrical/instrumentationcertificationrequiredper regional or national regulations

  • Trained inNEC code to ajourneymanlevelpreferred

  • Journeyman understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific electronics diagrams

  • Understanding of PLCandequipment automationprefered

  • Prior experience in SAP preferred

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent administrative and follow-up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.
