Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Completed at least through sophomore year at time of employment.
  • GPA 3.6/4.0 or higher.
  • Relevant coursework, interest, and experience with analog/digital electronics, RF design, FPGA development, radar applications, signal processing & data analysis, satellite/subsystem design.
  • Familiarity with test automation (LabView, GPIB, etc.).
  • Familiarity with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, or other scientific programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing, designing, developing, and testing next generation resilient space systems, electronics, and architectures.
  • Engage in electronics/RF design, electromagnetic analysis, hardware development, integration and test, and test automation.
  • Contribute to embedded systems development, systems analysis, and data analysis projects.

Job description

Electronics for Contested Space Co-Op (Spring / Summer 2027) - Group 09-94

The Electronics for Contested Space Group develops advanced electronic systems and technology for the protection of our Nation’s most important space capabilities. We design and develop state-of-the-art satellites and satellite payloads, novel concepts for resilient space architectures, and the Nation’s most sensitive radars, optics, and passive RF systems. The group also provides engineering rigor and experience to some of the most critical National Security programs through Laboratory-wide collaboration and acts in an advisory capacity to the U.S. Government. Examples of recent projects include the prototyping of electronic systems and effects, hardware-in-the-loop testing of tactically relevant payloads with surrogate threat systems, developing RF subsystems for satellites, and analysis of spacecraft mission dynamics, environments, and resiliency.

Position Description

Group 94, Electronics for Contested Space, is seeking a CO-OP student to help analyze, design, develop, and test the next generation of resilient space systems, electronics, and architectures. Activities may include electronics and/or RF design, electromagnetic analysis, hardware development, integration and test, test automation, embedded systems development, systems analysis, and data analysis.

Requirements / Skills
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Completed at least through sophomore year at time of employment.
  • GPA 3.6/4.0 or higher.
  • Relevant coursework, interest, and experience with at least one of the following areas: analog / digital electronics design, RF design, FPGA development, radar applications, signal processing & data analysis, satellite or satellite subsystem design, astrodynamics, aerospace control systems.
  • Familiarity with test automation (LabView, GPIB, etc.).
  • Familiarity with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, or other scientific programming languages.
Compensation
  • Technical Co-Op: $25 – $32 per hour (based on year in school)
  • Administrative Co-Op: $23 – $27 per hour (based on year in school)

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level DoD security clearance.
