MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking an Associate Staff - Electronics, Circuits & Test Engineer in Lexington, MA to design, build, and test advanced electronics and RF systems for space payloads. You will lead teams, perform integration and test, and develop automated data analysis and documentation for complex lab environments.

The role requires hands-on circuit experience, RF and power electronics familiarity, embedded systems, and the ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Associate Staff - Electronics, Circuits & Test Engineer

The Electronics for Contested Space Group develops advanced electronic systems and technology for the protection of our Nation’s most important space capabilities. We design and develop state-of-the-art satellites and satellite payloads, novel concepts for resilient space architectures, and the Nation’s most sensitive radars, optics, and passive RF systems. The group also provides engineering rigor and experience to some of the most critical National Security programs through Laboratory-wide collaboration and acts in an advisory capacity to the U.S. Government. Recently we have prototyped electronic systems and effects, conducted hardware-in-the-loop testing of tactically relevant payloads with surrogate threat systems, developed RF subsystems for satellites, and analyzed spacecraft mission dynamics, environments, and resiliency.

Job Description

Group 94, Electronics for Contested Space, is seeking an electronics and test engineer to help design, build, and test advanced electronics and RF systems and space payloads. Activities may include power electronics and/or RF design, hardware development and debugging, leading teams of test engineers, specialists, and technicians, integration and test, test automation, data analysis, and documentation (schematics, interconnects, board layout, performance, etc.). The successful candidate will work on multi-disciplinary teams executing advanced research and developing systems critical to National Security.

Occasional travel to support integration and test events, presentations to sponsors and the community, and other events may be required.

Requirements

• A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • In lieue of the above, a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of relevant experience will be considered
• Hands-on experience building and testing complex electronic circuits at both PCB and system levels
• Significant coursework, interest, and experience with multiple of the following areas:
  • Analog, digital, and mixed signal electronics,
  • RF design,
  • Power electronics design,
  • Embedded systems,
  • Radar applications,
  • Systems engineering,
  • Satellite subsystem development,
  • Test automation (Python, COSMOS, LabView, GPIB/SCPI, etc.).
• Analytical and/or scientific programming proficiency with experience solving real technical problems (e.g. MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar)
• Ability to secure security clearance from the US Department of Defense
• Demonstrable ability to:
  • Work responsibly and safely in laboratory and assembly environments
  • Develop respectful, productive working relationships
  • Communicate clearly, precisely, and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Solve broad and/or complex technical or engineering problems
  • Learn and apply advanced technical knowledge quickly and proficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Broad engineering and scientific knowledgebase and research skills
• Experience collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting experimental data taken in an operational laboratory environment
• Experience preparing and distributing written and verbal technical briefings

Recent Graduate Hiring Range:$116,400-$140,000

Experienced Hiring Range: $116,400-$182,200
