Job summary

Globalstar is seeking an Electronics Engineering Technician to join our engineering team in supporting incoming inspections, prototype builds, and manufacturing operations. The role includes setting up standard test gear, conducting functional and environmental tests, and documenting results for reliability assessments.

Travel and after-hours availability may be required. Ideal candidates hold an associate degree or have 2+ years of technical experience, with knowledge of electrical principles.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 2+ years' equivalent technical work experience.
  • General understanding of electrical principles and terminology.
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers and network analyzers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out product inspections and document findings per QA guidance.
  • Assemble prototype models per engineering documentation.
  • Set up test equipment and circuitry for functional, environmental, and life tests on prototypes and production models.
  • Analyze and interpret test data and identify next steps.
  • Calibrate and adjust circuitry and components and record effects on performance.
  • Write basic technical reports and develop charts and basic schematics.
  • Verify functionality of newly designed products under actual operating conditions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly of factory test station equipment.
  • Conduct basic failure analysis and provide corrective actions.
  • Run experiments under the guidance of an engineer.

Job Summary

The Electronics Engineering Technician is responsible for incoming product inspections, product rework and updates, as well as manufacturing and shipping support. The individual may also be involved in assisting in building prototype products and performing various electrical and environmental tests.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Carry out product inspections and document findings following QA guidance.
  • Assemble prototype models based on engineering documentation and guidance from Senior Technicians or Engineers.
  • Set up standard test apparatus or test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototypes and production models under the guidance of a Senior Technician or Engineer.
  • Analyze and interpret test data along with identifying next steps to be taken.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components along with recording effects on device performance.
  • Write basic technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and basic schematics to describe and illustrate an item’s operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
  • Verify functionality of newly designed products performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly of factory test station equipment.
  • Perform basic failure analysis, record results and provide corrective actions.
  • Run experiments under the guidance of an engineer.
Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of failure analysis, corrective, and preventative action techniques
  • Ability to perform tests and keep accurate records
  • Ability to learn new technologies and techniques
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications
  • Associate’s degree or 2 plus years’ experience of equivalent technical work
  • General understanding of electrical principles and terminology
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers and network analyzers, and other electrical laboratory measurement equipment a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
