Job summary

Globalstar, a leader in satellite-based safety and IoT solutions, is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer for the Data Handling Subsystems. You will lead design, management, and testing of data routing and telemetry on existing and new LEO satellites.

You will work with a collaborative team to monitor space assets, develop tools, and participate in real-time operations to ensure nominal performance and quick recovery from anomalies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience with LEO satellite data handling subsystems.
• Experience with space-based control algorithms and TAS Data Handling Subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the Globalstar space asset across satellite generations.
• Establish and maintain subject matter expertise in the Globalstar Satellite Data Handling Subsystem.
• Develop and maintain tools and scripts for satellite operations.
• Assist in real-time operations for nominal and anomalous conditions.
• Prepare commanding requests and oversee execution per operations plan.

What you will be doing at Globalstar

As aSenior Spacecraft Systems EngineerfortheData Handling Subsystems, you will lead the design, management, support, and test of LEO Satellite systems for data routing and telemetry.You will be working with a collaborative team on existing and new LEO satellitesconstellations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of engineers tomonitorand maintain the Globalstar space assetof multiple generations of satellites
• Establish andmaintainsubject matterexpertisein the Globalstar Satellite Data Handling Subsystem
• Write andmaintainsatellite operations procedures and scripts
• Participate in real time operations for nominal operations, anomalydetection, andrecovery
• Monitor satellite operations in real-time to confirm nominal performance or recommend contingency actions
• Develop andmaintaintools to streamline satellite and ground operations
• Support development for new onboard algorithms (experience in C++, Ada, and Python are highly favored)
• Prepare commanding requests for operatorsin accordance withestablished operations plan
• Oversee the execution of commanding as necessary
• Perform all required telemetrymonitoringand analysis, both short and long-term,in order toassure satellite safety

What you will bring to Globalstar

• Bachelor's or higher inElectrical, Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace, or a closely related Engineering field
• 10+ years of experience with LEO satellite data handling subsystems
• 10+ years of experiencemonitoring andmaintainingLEO satellite systems
• Experience troubleshooting space-based systems
• Experience reviewing and troubleshootingcontrolalgorithms
• Experience with ThalesAlenia Space (TAS)Data Handling Subsystems

It’sa bonus if you have:

• Master's or higher inElectrical, Mechanical, Computer, Aerospace, or a closely related Engineering field
• 15+ years of experience with LEO satellite data handling subsystems

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
