Job summary

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is recruiting Electronics Engineer III-IV to join our engineering team. Based at the Albuquerque or Socorro, NM facilities, you will design and troubleshoot RF electronics for ngVLA and related telescope systems.

A BSEE is required; a Master’s is desirable. The role emphasizes testing, reporting, and collaboration with other disciplines in a mission‑driven research environment. Travel to NRAO sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • BSEE is required.
  • MSEE is highly desirable.
  • Experience with RF and mixed-signal electronics preferred.
  • Ability to design, simulate, test and document electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Electronics design and development for ngVLA antenna.
  • Troubleshoot radio telescope antenna electronics.
  • Qualification testing of COTS electronics.
  • Generate technical reports, findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews and stakeholder presentations.
  • Improve electronics for deployed antenna arrays including VLBA and VLA.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
