Job summary

The R & D Design Engineer role at Company Products in Missouri focuses on new product design, development, and engineering analysis to support growth. You will work with Product Engineering, Release Engineering, and Development teams to ensure timely cycles and transfer knowledge across departments.

You will perform CAD design, tolerance analysis, safety assessments, and documentation for mechanical assemblies, while supporting existing products and contributing to 6S and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of related engineering in mechanism/mechatronics design.
• Experience in FEA analysis and functional safety is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers internal and external to develop design requirements.
• Design, analyse, debug, verify, validate, and document mechanical assemblies following industry-standard design practices.
• Support existing products by analysing designs for potential applications/solutions.
• Perform system and sub-system level safety analyses including Hazard Analyses, Fault Trees, and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analyses.
• Intermediate to advanced CAD design skills
• Selection of materials, coatings, heat treatment, etc. for designs.
• Perform tolerance stacks
• Ability to perform all safety critical functions.
• Must be able to understand and apply significant and critical characteristics on blueprints.
• Writes product DVP test plans in line with product specifications.
• Follow all 6S & Safety Guidelines – Safety, Sort, Straighten, Scrub, Standardize, & Sustain

Job description

The position of R & D Design Engineer is a central contributor in new product design, development, and technical expertise for continued growth. The R & D Design Engineer will work extensively with Product Engineering, Product Release Engineering, and members of the Product Development team to ensure an accurate and timely product development cycle along with transferring technical and product knowledge to other departments within the organization.

Preferred Educational Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline or equivalent technical experience.

Preferred Work Experience:

• Applicable work experience will also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a minimum of (5) years of related engineering in the area of mechanism and/or mechatronics design.
• Experience in FEA analysis, functional safety, automobile or commercial vehicle industry would be beneficial.
