Job summary

The Structures Company is seeking an Electronics Engineer in Irvine, CA to lead the full PCB design cycle for avionics hardware used in aerospace programs. The role involves schematic design, component selection, layout supervision, bring-up, and testing, with a focus on reliable, MIL-spec hardware and rugged performance.

You will work with microcontrollers, firmware integration, and various interfaces, ensuring hardware meets strict security and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years of electronics design experience.
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Experience with PCB design lifecycle from schematic to prototype.
• Familiarity with MIL-spec hardware and aerospace wiring.

Responsibilities

• Participates in full PCB design cycle from schematic design to prototype.
• Designs avionics systems and subsystems for aircraft.
• Defines wire harnesses within the air vehicle.
• Performs bring-up, validation, and testing of hardware.

Summary:

• Participates in the full PCB design cycle including schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, functional verification, and performance testing.
• Designs, develops, integrates, and debugs avionics systems and subsystems for aircraft and launcher electrical systems.
• Defines wire harnesses connecting systems within the air vehicle.
• Supports design updates driven by product improvements, obsolescence, and evolving requirements.
• Conducts peer-level and cross-disciplinary design reviews.
• Performs circuit board design, bring-up, and validation from concept to functional prototype.
• Applies knowledge of analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuits and components for system integration.
• Uses common test equipment and CAD tools such as Altium for design and validation.
• Works with microcontrollers, common serial interfaces, and firmware or software integration.
• Applies familiarity with MIL-spec hardware and harnessing for aerospace systems.

Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3 to 5+ years of relevant industry experience in electronics design and development.
• Demonstrated capability in circuit board design, bring-up, and validation.
• Proven experience designing electronics from concept to functional prototype, including hardware selection, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuits and components.
• Competence with common test equipment and CAD tools such as Altium.
• Preferred: Experience designing electronics for robotic and aircraft systems.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, serial interfaces, and firmware or software integration.
• Preferred: Familiarity with MIL-spec hardware and harnessing, and experience in UAV systems.
