Job Description
We are seeking an Electronics Design Engineer for Space Exploration Electronic Systems to support NASA as an Oceaneering teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science II contract. This role will immerse you in human spaceflight and deep space exploration projects, ensuring services not only meet but exceed all standards and expectations.

International Travel / Work Schedule
International travel may be required. Straight‑time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or one day of telework per week may be available.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager within a team of over 45 Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
- Collab with or lead a team of Electrical Engineers on assigned projects.
- Support new designs from conception through manufacturing to operational testing and deployment.
- Provide design support and guidance throughout Electronics System Development.
- Ensure familiarity with NASA specifications for electronics component development.
- Develop component test‑stand architectures, electrical component and lab instrumentation test system designs.
- Develop and modify LabVIEW code for various test systems.
- Create detailed test verification procedures.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical technicians to build and test designed systems.
- Develop and test breakout boxes, digital/analog sensor emulation systems.
- Perform electrical evaluation/selection of instrumentation such as pressure transducers, flow meters, pumps, fans, RTDs, thermocouples.
- Troubleshoot and repair existing test systems.
- Conduct analog and digital printed circuit board design for various applications.
- Develop test software modules for specific tests.
- Work with eCAD designer on PCB designs.
- Operate in a laboratory environment following SOPs.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (minimum) or related master’s degree with 10–15 years of experience.
- Experience leading a team of electronics design engineers.
- Experience in requirements definition and architecture development.
- Experience with analog, digital, and power PCB design, including fabrication and assembly.
- Proficiency in schematic entry and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer and version control systems such as Subversion (SVN).
- Experience with cable design and fabrication for space applications.
- Familiarity with JSC standards and processes.
- Experience with data acquisition systems (especially National Instruments) and LabVIEW development.
- Experience with FPGA circuitry design and VHDL coding (Xilinx Vivado).
- Experience in microcontroller circuit design and embedded system development.
- Experience in requirements verification.
Preferred
- Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with circuit simulation tools such as Pspice, OrCAD, Multisim.
- Experience with test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers.
- Familiarity with data interface protocols and hardware (Ethernet, RS‑232, RS‑422, RS‑485, I²C, SPI).
- Experience with analog instrumentation system design and testing.
- Experience with stepper and brushless DC‑DC control circuits, power supply and conditioning systems.
- Experience in design, development, and validation of NASA space‑flight hardware.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, OneDrive, Outlook).
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
