Position Overview:

As an Electronics Debug Test Technician II at SMTC, you will be responsible for supporting functional and/or in-circuit test fixtures. You will serve as a technical resource for production, requiring thorough knowledge of all products, subassemblies, hardware, and test processes for assigned customers.

Duties

• Read and interpret schematics, mechanical and assembly drawings.
• Familiarity with basic circuit analysis techniques (KVL, KCL, Ohm's Law).
• Apply electronics theory to test and troubleshoot electronics.
• Use common electronics testing equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies).
• Utilize routine test or diagnostic equipment. Learn and use software tools under supervision.
• Navigate Windows environment.
• Follow written and verbal engineering instructions, including test procedures, with supervision.
• Participate in developing new approaches and techniques for continuous improvement.
• Work independently or in a team, with supervision.
• Be a self-starter.
• Demonstrate strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
• Multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Support production schedule, including working overtime and alternate shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Associates or equivalent in electronics or electrical/electronic technology preferred.
• Electronics Technicians Association Certification a plus.
• Experience in the commercial/electronics market is a plus.
• Knowledge of instrumentation hardware and software.
• Experience with environmental chamber operation and support is a plus.
• Experience with ATE operation and support is a plus.
• IPC 610 certification is a plus.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Remain stationary for extended periods while operating testing equipment and reviewing documents.
• Move within the production floor to support testing activities.
• Operate and adjust test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and ATE systems.
• Access and troubleshoot equipment at varying heights.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Transport tools, components, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
