Job Summary

The Electronics Controls Technician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic equipment in a manufacturing environment, ensuring optimal performance of industrial control systems, PLCs, and various electronic components while adhering to safety standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain complex electronic/electrical equipment, including PLCs, motor relays, circuit breakers, and industrial control systems to ensure optimal facility operations.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain sophisticated electronic systems, including detailed work with PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, vision systems, and AC/DC drives, ensuring all automated manufacturing equipment operates at peak efficiency.
- Perform precise calibration, alignment, and modification of electronic components and circuitry, implementing preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and performance metrics.
- Modify and program PLC systems and machine logic, including creation and maintenance of ladder logic programs, while maintaining comprehensive system backups and documentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for maintenance associates, creating detailed technical materials and conducting hands‑on instruction sessions for equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Manage facility‑wide electrical safety initiatives and arc‑flash program, ensuring strict OSHA compliance, conducting regular audits, and maintaining up‑to‑date documentation of all safety procedures.
- Execute complex system upgrades and modifications, including designing electrical layouts, installing conduit systems, sizing appropriate wiring, and implementing advanced control system improvements to enhance production efficiency.
- Support large‑scale engineering projects from conception through implementation, providing expert technical guidance and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
- Maintain and document critical manufacturing equipment programs through systematic backup procedures for PLCs, HMIs, drives, and vision systems, ensuring business continuity.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex electronic issues using sophisticated diagnostic equipment and technical documentation, implementing immediate solutions and long‑term preventive measures.
- Coordinate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical challenges, implement system improvements, and maintain rigorous equipment performance standards.
- Participate in facility‑wide continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for system upgrades, process enhancements, and efficiency improvements, including cost‑saving measures.
- Perform and maintain comprehensive Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out procedures and safety systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and protecting personnel and equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED (Electronics Technology degree desired).
- Apprentice completion in electrical trades or hands‑on experience as an Electronics Technician preferred.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.

- Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.

- Working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Use of ladders, mobile equipment, respiratory protection, and ARC flash equipment.
- Wearing required PPE (hearing protection, steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses).

Work Conditions
- Manufacturing setting with noise levels above 85 dB.
- Operation of complex machinery.
- Variable temperatures requiring flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
