Job Summary:

The Assembler position is a professional in the manufacturing environment who applies extensive knowledge and skill in the assembly field, working with little or no supervision to perform assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. In addition, the Assembler communicates with all levels of the Value Stream as well as performs visual and dimensional inspection.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform assigned assembly tasks
2. Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies
3. Test finished assemblies
4. Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery
5. Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
6. Train and mentor new employees and other team members in new processes, procedures and Crane tools
7. Prioritize daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working in
8. Discuss and problem solve quality issues with Manufacturing Engineers, the Quality group, and leadership
9. Create work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues, and First Article Inspection's (FAIs) at "In process/End Item" as well as other assorted assembly functions
10. Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy; Proactively identify safety concerns or issues and work with the Engineering group to implement solutions
11. Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
12. Visually check completed work against drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness
13. Cross-train to work on at least 5 products
14. Complete job-related company training courses
15. Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
16. Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
17. Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
18. Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
19. Perform inventory cycle counts
20. May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 3-8 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; Good reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents); Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)

Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; Ability to work well in high paced work environment in a high-volume setting

Education/Certification Requirement: High School diploma or equivalent; Fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Ability to coach and mentor as well as have input into employment process
2. Ability to do part marking, wrapping and packaging finished goods and transport to other work areas
3. Ability to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately and close work orders
4. Ability to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions
5. Experience maintaining equipment on a stringent calibration schedule
6. IPC solder rework certification
7. Designated Inspection certification

Salary range: $22.15 to 34.18. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
