Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking an Electronic Technician C - Range Communications to support PMRF in Kekaha, Kauai. The role covers operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and installing telecommunications systems and networking components.

Will work with OSI layer concepts, test equipment, and COMSEC tasks; occasional travel to other Hawaii sites and at sea. Requires 4+ years in telecom, relevant certifications, and ability to lift heavy equipment.

Qualifications

Four years of progressive experience in telecommunications for voice, video and data and related networking systems.
Ability to use and interpret test equipment such as oscilloscopes, RF meters, analyzers, and BER testers.
Basic electricity and electronics theory with emphasis on telecom troubleshooting.
Able to read and interpret schematics for repair and troubleshooting.
Familiar with OSI 7-layer model; proficient in Windows and Linux; MS Office skills.
Must obtain and maintain required certifications including computing environment within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, monitor and maintain Range Operations systems and equipment.
Perform periodic inspections and document results in records.
Troubleshoot and repair systems via schematics and test gear.
Install, calibrate and test new/relocated systems; perform COMSEC related tasks.
Maintain cable plants, power distribution and battery backup systems.
Occasional travel to other Hawaii locations and at-sea assignments.
Perform other duties as required.
