Job summary

Patterson-UTI is seeking a Level 2 Electronic Technician for Marshall, TX, supporting NexTier Frac operations. You will perform essential Level 2 duties, troubleshoot 12V/24V DC systems, and work with hydraulic/pneumatic controls in demanding oilfield environments.

You will mentor junior techs and contribute to equipment reliability and safety. Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, 3–4 years’ experience, and English proficiency; CDL is not required but preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree or applicable experience preferred.
  • Experience: 3-4 years in electronics-related roles.
  • Must read, write, and speak English to follow instructions.
  • Completion of FOCUS training upon hire.
  • Meets Competency Task List requirements and Equipment Maintenance Task List.
  • Maintains eligibility to drive company vehicles.
  • Performs work independently and participates in training.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Level 2 electronic technician duties and essential functions.
  • Reads and interprets hydraulic, pneumatic, and control schematics.
  • Repairs, troubleshoots, and maintains 12V and 24V DC systems.
  • Tunes and edits control software settings and assists with system upgrades.
  • Troubleshoots sensors, cables, and related components in oilfield tech environments.
  • Mentors junior technicians and coaches others on repairs.
  • Assists with engine/transmission electronics troubleshooting and repairs.

This posting is for Electronic Technician openings currently available based out of Marshall, TX supporting NexTier Frac operations

Detailed Description
  • Performs and completes all essential functions required of Level 2 Electronic Technicians.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all related tools and software.
  • Uses engine and transmission diagnostic software effectively.
  • Performs instrumentation preventive maintenance (PM) and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Repairs, troubleshoots, and maintains 12V and 24V DC systems.
  • Identifies, builds, and repairs various cable types.
  • Troubleshoots, replaces, and calibrates sensors.
  • Understands specific hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems, including troubleshooting and replacement.
  • Reads and interprets hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system schematics.
  • Troubleshoots control system issues and replaces components.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and repair of engine and transmission electronics.
  • Reads and interprets engine and transmission schematics.
  • Tunes and edits control software settings and assists with system upgrades.
  • Troubleshoots complex network and equipment issues.
  • Coaches and mentors' others on cable repair and building.
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow and issue verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in simple mathematical calculations.
  • Vast knowledge of sensors used in oilfield electronics.
  • Completion of FOCUS training upon hire.
  • Meets Competency Task List requirements and completes Equipment Maintenance Task List.
  • Adheres to company policies and work requirements.
  • Maintains eligibility to drive company vehicles.
  • Performs work independently and assists other employees as directed.
  • Participates in all company-provided training.
Language Comprehension

Must understand and speak English at a level sufficient to issue, receive, and respond to both safety and operations-related directions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree or applicable experience preferred.
  • Experience: 3-4 years.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
