Job summary

PacifiCorp in Salt Lake City seeks a customer-centered Electronic Technician to support reliable electrical grid operations by maintaining and upgrading communications systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, an FCC GROL license (elements 1 and 3), and at least two years of power utility experience. This is a 100% onsite position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Two years experience as an Electronic Technician in a power utility environment.
  • FCC GROL license with elements 1 and 3 required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining PacifiCorp Communication systems including voice and data systems, telephone systems, PBXs, DCS, microwave radio systems, land mobile radio, SCADA, fiber optics and related equipment.
  • Installing, testing and certifying any or all listed equipment; off-road travel in extreme weather may be required.
  • Usually work on independent assignments but may collaborate with others as needed.
  • May be assigned to direct the work of an Electronic Technician Assistant.
  • Responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the Company for use in this position.

General Purpose

Play a critical role in supporting the reliable operation of the electrical grid through advanced communications technology!

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining PacifiCorp Communication systems including but not limited to voice and data communication systems, telephone systems, PBX's,DCS, analog and digital microwave radio systems, land mobile radio systems, SCADA systems, power line carrier equipment, chart recorders, telemetry, tone relaying, fiber optics/lightwave, and associated switching and termination equipment.
  • Responsible for installing, testing and certifying any or all of the above listed equipment. Off-road travel in extreme weather conditions may be required.
  • Usually work on independent work assignments, but may be assigned to work with other company personnel as needed.
  • May be assigned to direct the work of an Electronic Technician Assistant.
  • Responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the Company for use in this position.
Requirements
  • Must provide proof of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must pass journeyman level written and practical tests.
  • Two years experience as an Electronic Technician in a power utility environment.
  • FCC GROL License with elements 1 and 3.
