Job summary

Advantage Technical in Williamsburg, VA is seeking an Electronic Technician to maintain shipboard navigation systems, communications, CCTV, automation, and safety systems supporting global operations.

The role requires an Associate degree in Electronics Technology, 5+ years of hands-on experience, and the ability to read schematics. Security+ and GROL certifications are preferred, and DoD clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent military training.
• 5+ years troubleshooting and maintaining electronic equipment.
• Experience with computer network administration.
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.
• Knowledge of RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 preferred.
• Experience with marine navigation systems preferred.
• Security+ and GROL certifications preferred (GROL required after hire).
• U.S. DoD security clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot shipboard navigation, communication, CCTV, automation, and safety systems.
• Support and maintain computer networks and IT systems with cybersecurity protocols.
• Assist with radar, GPS, ECDIS, and dynamic positioning systems maintenance.
• Perform upgrades and repairs on electronic and computer-based equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee electronic system work during shipyard maintenance periods.
• Manage equipment inventories and documentation.
• Support offshore deployments and vessel operations as needed.

Now Hiring: Electronic Technician (Marine Navigation Systems) - Direct Hire

Location: Williamsburg, VA
Pay Rate: $70,000 - $80,000/year
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Join a team responsible for maintaining critical shipboard electronics, communication systems, and navigation equipment supporting global operations.

Job Duties

• Maintain and troubleshoot shipboard navigation, communication, CCTV, automation, and safety systems
• Support and maintain computer networks and IT systems while following cybersecurity protocols
• Assist with maintenance of radar, GPS, ECDIS, and dynamic positioning systems
• Perform upgrades and repairs on electronic and computer-based equipment
• Coordinate and oversee electronic system work during shipyard maintenance periods
• Manage equipment inventories and documentation
• Support offshore deployments and vessel operations as needed

Experience Requirements

• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Computer Science, equivalent military training, or related experience
• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining electronic equipment
• Experience with computer network administration
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
• Knowledge of RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 communication protocols preferred
• Experience with marine navigation systems preferred
• Security+ and GROL certifications preferred (GROL required after hire)
• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work aboard vessels and travel internationally
• Capable of extended offshore deployments, up to two months at a time
