Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking an Electronic Technician D, Radar to support government radar systems at Makaha Ridge/Kokee Park sites in Hawai'i. The role covers troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of MPS-25, FPQ-10, FPS-16, AN/SPS-67, SPS-48E SSR/Furuno, ROSA 1 & 2, COSIP and related equipment.

Candidate will be cross-trained across departments and must be a U.S. citizen with Secret clearance or eligibility. Extended at-sea deployment possible; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of progressive experience in a related field or an AS degree in electronics.
• Radar experience is desired but not required.
• Knowledge of basic electronics, computers, electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair.
• Ability to read electronics schematics and use test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain radar equipment such as MPS-25, FPQ-10, FPS-16, AN/SPS-67, SPS-48E SSR/Furuno, ROSA 1 and 2, COSIP.
• Perform periodic inspections and maintenance per procedures and logs.

Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is looking for an Electronic Technician D, Radar to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Hawai'i.

Supporting radars, as well as being cross-trained and cross-utilized in other departments, the candidate shall possess working knowledge and be capable, under guidance, of troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, overhauling, modifying, calibrating, operating and performing other related tasks on radar systems and equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Will be trained to operate and maintain radar equipment such as: MPS-25, FPQ-10, FPS-16 AN/SPS-67, SPS-48E SSR/Furuno, ROSA 1, ROSA 2, COSIP and all other assigned equipment/systems.
• Perform periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and /or O&M guidelines. Document results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
• With assistance and guidance, troubleshoot and repair systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using simple and complex test equipment.
• Assist in preparation of system reports, preventative maintenance logs and other logs or reports as they pertain to the daily operations of radar systems.
• Assist to installations, check, calibrations, and perform acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment.
• Set up, check out, operate, and monitor systems and equipment in support of Range Operations. Responds to changing operational requirements when directed.
• Assist in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Environment:

• This position may require extended at-sea deployment
• This position is primarily located at Makaha Ridge/Kokee Park instrumentation sites.
• Customer contact, extended workdays, an office laboratory as well as field assignments sometimes during inclement weather.
• Electronics shop environment at various operating locations throughout PMRF.

Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (two-men assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, stooping or cramped working places and work requiring repeated or frequent climbing. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, an office laboratory environment with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• High School or equivalent
• Two (2) Year Technical School or equivalent training such as Navy “A” school or recognized correspondence is required.
• Two (2) years of technical experience can be substituted for each year of required education.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Four (4) years of progressive experience in a related field or an AS degree in electronics.
• Previous radar experience is desired but not required.
• Fundamental knowledge of basic electronics, computers, electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair.
• Possess and demonstrate knowledge of electronics theory.
• Able to use, apply and understand test and measuring equipment.
• Must possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and MSDOS Windows.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

• $44.77 per hr
• The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
