Job description

This position is 100% on-site. This position will be serving as a playback specialist/engineer for a cable broadcast channel and streaming platforms. This role maintains CTV Video Playback systems and studio control room equipment, downloads and ingests programming for video playback, and maintains connectivity between playback system, studio control, and the internet.

Under direction, is responsible for serving as a subject matter specialist for a data, video, or voice communication network, trunking cable system, wireless network, fiber optic system, instrumentation and control system, or other electronic communication/control system; performs related duties as required.

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)

Performs computer terminal or electronic communication network troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, RF power meters, fiber optic test sets, speakers, monitors, systems analyzers, laptop computers, and/or other equipment.

Generates and maintains electronic system software including network and instrumentation monitoring programs, machine interface display programs, network statistics programs, network diagnostic programs, and/or line protocol test routines; maintains and repairs LAN and WAN for an electronic system.

Plans and coordinates installation/repair of electronic system hardware and conducts inspections to ensure that equipment is installed properly; assists with and/or designs and assists with the construction of fiber networks and network facilities, industrial control systems, and field devices; coordinates installation/repair/construction with the appropriate City division/personnel and private vendors.

Conducts, or ensures the performance of, preventative maintenance functions such as system sweeping, distortion analyses, signal leakage, system diagnostic testing, status monitoring, and picture analyses.

Performs routine and emergency service/repair work on cable lines, amplifiers, AC power units, and other related field equipment and components.

Repairs, tests, and services cable broadcast equipment, such as video cameras, video recorders, audio equipment, switcher console panels, or related equipment; repairs and tests fiber optic cables using fusion splicing equipment and optical time domain reflectometer.

Acts as liaison for vendors supplying equipment, maintenance services, and electronic parts for an electronic communication network, electronic control system, or fiber optic system to assure contract compliance.

Installs, maintains, and repairs traffic signal network and communication systems and repairs traffic signal system masters and related equipment.

Installs, programs, troubleshoots, and repairs programmable logic controllers, remote terminal units, and associated instrumentation; programs remote terminal units and programmable logic controllers for water collection, treatment, and distribution processes.

Installs, calibrates, and repairs various chemical additive equipment, electronic control valves, pumping devices, and process control instrumentation such as liquid flow meters, chemical analyzers, and liquid level, pressure, and temperature sensors.

Repairs power suppliers, splitters, amplifiers, connectors, RF Modems, RF combiners, RF repeaters, fiber modems, multiplex equipment, or other components of an electronic communication system.

Assists with developing standards, maintenance cycles, and preventative maintenance plans.

Stays abreast of new technologies and industry standards.

Shares knowledge and information with subordinates and others, as a subject matter specialist.

Two (2) years of experience performing fully-skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of electronic equipment for telephone, radio, mobile data, data processing, traffic control, video, or instrumentation and control systems.

Possession of a valid driver’s license.
