Job summary

Amtrak is hiring an Electronic Specialist technician in Massachusetts. The role focuses on data and voice circuit electronics, maintaining Amtrak's cable plant, and aligning with our division reporting structure.

You will learn, apply, and improve electronics knowledge to support railway communications. The successful candidate will have a background in electronics, ability to pass the required exam, and strong math and English reading skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license on the date of hire.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to read and understand job information written in English.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations including fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to qualify for the position by passing the electronic technician examination for communications prepared by System Communications Engineering Department.

Summary Of Duties

The Electronic Specialst technician must be familiar with the division reporting structure, possess knowledge of data and voice circuit electronics, and have general knowledge of electronics. Must be capable of learning, understanding, and maintaining Amtrak's cable plant.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Electronic/electrical background or education.
  • Communications, electrical and/or electronic experience.
  • Previous railroad experience in communications.
Communications And Interpersonal Skills

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

The hourly range is $51.24 – $51.24 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
