Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking an Electronic Security IT System Administrator to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) unit.

This role covers designing, operating, and maintaining enterprise IT and security systems for federal, local, and commercial clients. The ideal candidate has strong Windows, Active Directory, and network fundamentals, with experience in physical and cloud servers, incident response, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • System administrator experience triaging and resolving problems, and expanding workstation deployments.
  • Experience managing Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Understanding of Windows Active Directory hierarchy and implementation.
  • Experience with access control, intrusion detection, video/security systems, and related IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to lead small teams and meet deadlines with quality objectives.
  • Strong documentation and playbook development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production enterprise IT systems and hardware.
  • Install, configure, and support Windows and Linux servers (physical and cloud).
  • Ensure system security, integrity, and availability.
  • Monitor systems and respond to errors and alerts.

We are seeking a Electronic Security IT System Administrator (System Administrator 3) to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

Electronic Security IT System Administrator is a key member of the global technology team responsible for building and maintaining enterprise technology application systems.

  • Maintaining production systems, software, hardware, and end devices.
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of physical and cloud-based Windows and Linux servers.
  • Ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of systems.
  • Monitoring operational systems for errors and alerts.
  • Troubleshooting, adding, configuring, and removing various technologies related to access control, intrusion detection, emergency, video, and other security systems.
  • Document daily functions and troubleshooting process to create and revise playbooks.
Work Schedule
  • Requires the ability to work flexible shifts primarily consisting of an emergency on‑call weekend rotation, but could include nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • On‑site requirements are subject to change and could increase at any time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of progressive experience.
  • Associate's Degree and 8+ years of progressive experience.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of progressive experience.
Requirements
  • Requires system administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
  • 2+ years of experience programming/administrating Physical Access Control Systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated previous experience effectively managing small teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Windows Active Directory hierarchy and implementation.
  • Basic knowledge of large‑scale networking, VLANs and routing.
  • Requires reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.
  • Certifications in Windows (10, 11, Server 2016‑2025), AWS Cloud, Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes), Databases (SQL, Cassandra, Mongo, Redis), and Networking Protocols strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Travel
  • Up to 25% annual.
