Job summary

Salas OBrien is seeking a mid-level Electronic Safety & Security Consultant to join our team in Colorado. You will oversee the design of electronic safety and security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, and surveillance, collaborating with senior staff and clients on diverse projects.

You will develop project drawings, evaluate client requirements, and apply industry standards while supporting design from inception through construction and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years in physical security system design incl. intrusion, cameras, access, CAD drawings.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu and MS Office 365.

Job Summary:

Salas OBrien is looking for a mid-level Electronic Safety & Security Consultant to join our Team. The Electronic Safety & Security Consultant will leverage their experience working in the Architectural and Engineering community to oversee the design of Electronic Safety and Security systems (access control, intrusion detection, and surveillance). This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with other Senior staff and Engineers as well as consult directly with clients on a variety of project types within the construction industry. Projects will include new building construction and existing building renovations of data centers, sporting facilities, commercial, retail, multi-dwelling residential, hotel, education, and hospital properties.

In this role you will:

• Work directly under the guidance and supervision of Project Executives and Senior Consultants to execute design direction and deliverables.
• Work with clients to understand and translate their requirements into technical designs.
• Think outside the box to come up with creative, practical, technically feasible, and financially responsible solutions to our client's challenges.
• Conduct security risk assessments.
• Develop project drawings and specifications.
• Participate in all phases of design process from needs assessment through construction and commissioning.
• Apply your knowledge of industry standards and best practices to projects.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations.
• Design integrated electronic security systems.
• Perform system acceptance testing.
• Interact with project team members including Architects and MEP Engineers.
• Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.
• Limited travel required.

Technical systems knowledge:

• CCTV/video surveillance systems.
• Access control systems.
• Intrusion detection and alarm systems.
• Public Address (PA) systems.
• Intercom systems.
• Perimeter intrusion detection.
• Visitor management systems.
• Security Management Systems (SMS).
• Network infrastructure for security systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–8 years of experience with physical security system design including intrusion alarms, cameras, card access, CAD drawings, telecom connections, and experience communicating directly with clients.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
• An ability to effectively manage time and prioritize needs.

Desired Qualifications

• ASIS PSP, CPP, PCI, CPTED and/or CSPM certifications.
• Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Genetec, LenelS2, Honeywell, Bosch, Milestone, Axis)
• Department of Defense federal Security clearance
• Travel: Up to 10%

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
