Job summary

IBSS Corp. seeks a dedicated Electronic Monitoring (EM) Technician to support NOAA Fisheries EM programs. You will be the primary technical contact for vessels in your region, ensuring EM hardware and software function properly with hands-on fieldwork and remote troubleshooting.

The role offers a dynamic mix of fieldwork and remote support, with a temporary six-month term and a salary range of $65,000–$70,000 based on experience. Public trust eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience with electronic monitoring systems.
• Prior experience as an electrician or marine electrician is highly preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust security clearance.
• Willingness to travel frequently to ports along the Atlantic East Coast and Gulf of Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Travel geographically to Atlantic East Coast and Gulf of Mexico ports to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain EM systems.
• Provide remote technical assistance to vessel operators to resolve errors and ensure data integrity.
• Track and manage regional EM equipment inventory and replacement parts.
• Perform tasks as assigned by the project supervisor.

Description

IBSS is seeking a dedicated Electronic Monitoring (EM) Technician to provide essential technical support for NOAA Fisheries EM programs. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for vessels in your region, ensuring that critical electronic monitoring hardware and software systems are functioning properly to support sustainable fisheries management. This position offers a dynamic mix of hands‑on fieldwork and remote technical troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel geographically throughout the Atlantic East Coast and Gulf of Mexico to commercial fishing vessels to conduct system inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Provide responsive, remote technical assistance to vessel operators in your designated regions to resolve system errors and ensure data integrity.
• Track, maintain, and manage the regional inventory of EM equipment and replacement parts.
• Execute all technical and administrative work as assigned and managed by the project supervisor.

Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of hands‑on experience working with electronic monitoring systems.
