Job summary

Qnity Interconnect Solutions (ICS) is seeking an Electronics Materials Applications Engineer to drive the adoption of Kapton polyimide film in OEMs and industry partners across AI/HPC, datacenter, and automotive applications.

You will partner with customers to understand challenges, support product qualification and launches, and provide material guidance on reliability, processing, and performance, while collaborating with Sales, R&D, and Manufacturing to accelerate growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering or physics.
• Experience with electronics materials and semiconductor packaging.
• Strong customer-facing technical problem-solving and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and Qnity for Kapton film products.
• Support customer design-in, qualification, and product launches.
• Understand customer applications, technology roadmaps, manufacturing processes, and performance requirements.
• Provide technical guidance on material selection, reliability, processing, and performance optimization.
• Lead troubleshooting for customer manufacturing, qualification, and field-performance issues.
• Plan and execute application evaluations, testing programs, and product demonstrations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, R&D, and Manufacturing to identify opportunities and accelerate business growth.
• Capture and communicate customer needs, unmet market requirements, and emerging industry trends to guide future product development.
• Support stage-gate development programs and customer qualification projects for new film technologies.
• Deliver technical presentations, customer training, and application-focused technical documentation.
• Lead and support R&D prototyping, laboratory evaluations, and application testing to validate product performance against critical customer CTQs.

Electronic Materials Application Engineer / Scientist Advanced Flexible Technologies (AFT), a business within Qnity Interconnect Solutions (ICS), is a global leader in advanced polyimide film and Laminate technologies that enable some of the world's most demanding electronics applications. Our Kapton® products are used across consumer electronics, AI and high-performance computing (HPC), datacenter infrastructure, industrial systems such as automotive, aerospace and defense industries, and other emerging technologies where performance, reliability, and innovation are critical. We are seeking a customer-focused Electronic Materials Application Engineer / Scientist to help drive the adoption and successful commercialization of Kapton® polyimide film Product to the market. In this highly collaborative role, you will work directly with leading OEMs, component manufacturers, and ecosystem partners to understand application challenges, support product qualification, solve technical issues, and enable successful product launches. As the technical bridge between customers and Qnity, you will combine materials expertise, application development, and customer engagement to create value for our customers while influencing future product and technology direction. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems, working closely with customers, and helping bring next-generation technologies to market.

Please note: This is not a Software Engineering, IT, or Software Applications role. This position focuses on the application of advanced materials and polyimide film technologies within electronic hardware, semiconductor, AI/HPC, and industrial customer applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of customer applications, technology roadmaps, manufacturing processes, and performance requirements.
• Provide technical guidance on material selection, reliability, processing, and performance optimization.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for customer manufacturing, qualification, and field-performance issues.
• Plan and execute application evaluations, testing programs, and product demonstrations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, R&D, and Manufacturing to identify opportunities and accelerate business growth.
• Capture and communicate customer needs, unmet market requirements, and emerging industry trends to guide future product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in electronics materials, specialty films, components, semiconductor packaging, or related industries.
• Strong customer-facing technical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting OEM product development and qualification programs.
• Knowledge of consumer electronics, AI/HPC systems, datacenter hardware, industrial electronics, or adjacent markets.
• Experience working directly with OEMs, component suppliers, converters, or manufacturing partners.
• Hands-on experience in materials characterization, reliability testing, process troubleshooting, or failure analysis.
• Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
