Job summary

Chesapeake, Inc. is seeking a skilled electronics technician in the Virginia area to support water treatment and industrial control systems. The position requires an associate degree in electronics and a minimum of two years of full-time experience, plus a valid driver's license.

Candidates will troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, telemetry systems, instrumentation, and motor controls, and may provide technical guidance to other staff. Overtime may be required to meet department needs or emergencies.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in electronics or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this job class requires a minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards .

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electronic, instrumentation, automation, or control systems in a water/wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, VFDs, telemetry systems, instrumentation, motor controls, or related industrial control equipment.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or support to other staff is a plus.
