Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Electronic Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Eden Prairie, MN. This position will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of advanced power supply solutions supporting semiconductor, industrial, and medical applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing power electronics and power supply products, with strong expertise in circuit design, simulation, analysis, testing, and product development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE preferred).
  • 8+ years designing electronic products, power electronics, or power supply systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing power conversion or power supply products.
  • Strong background in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Cadence or Altium.
  • Experience using SPICE-based circuit simulation tools such as LTspice or PSpice.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, TCL, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting and laboratory testing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop power supply systems and electronic circuits from concept through production.
  • Create analog and digital circuit designs, power conversion circuitry, embedded control logic, magnetics, EMI filters, and related systems.
  • Develop schematics, perform PCB layout reviews, and support prototype builds.
  • Conduct circuit simulation and modeling using SPICE-based tools and other analytical methods.
  • Perform prototype testing, validation, troubleshooting, and debugging activities.
  • Analyze test data and evaluate system performance against design requirements.
  • Develop simulation tools, predictive models, and engineering calculations to optimize product performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, project management, and other internal teams to ensure objectives.
  • Support regulatory compliance and customer-specific requirements throughout product development.
  • Present technical findings and project updates to leadership and management.
  • Contribute as a technical leader within project teams to drive schedules and quality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing power electronics and power supply products, with strong expertise in circuit design, simulation, analysis, testing, and product development. This individual will lead technical design efforts while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience designing electronic products, power electronics, or power supply systems.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and developing power conversion or power supply products.
  • Strong background in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Cadence or Altium.
  • Experience using Mathcad for engineering analysis and calculations.
  • Proficiency with SPICE‑based circuit simulation tools such as LTspice or PSpice.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, TCL, or similar.
  • Strong troubleshooting and laboratory testing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within semiconductor, industrial automation, medical device, or power conversion industries.
  • Expertise with embedded control systems and power management applications.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing simulation models and analytical design tools.
  • Previous technical leadership or lead engineer experience.
