Job summary

The City of Dayton seeks a skilled electrical/electronic technician for demanding work involving wiring, testing, installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and related equipment in a municipal setting.

Responsibilities

This is highly skilled electronic electrical work in wiring, testing, installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, instruments, programmable logic controllers (PLC), data transmitters and acquisition systems, computers, telemetry, and audio/video (A V) equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Must Meet One Of The Following Education Requirements

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND journeyman electrician with a certificate in electronics or related field;
• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND completion of a four year certificate program in electronics or an electronic related field;
• Associate degree in Electronics.

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.

Experience

Must have 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, and must be thoroughly trained and competent in the use of personal computers and windows operating systems. Additionally, must have experience in the maintenance and repair of computer hosted data acquisition systems including PLC and/or RTU functions.

ALL of the above experience must have been obtained within the past 10 years.

License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Special Requirements

Must not be colorblind.

Promotional Qualifications

Must be a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee in pay grade 125 (Wage) or below, pay grade 29 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Identical scores will be broken by a random selection method.
