Job summary

Tenneco is seeking an Electronic Control Technician for the 2nd shift to troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial electrical, robotic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems. The role focuses on machine reliability and production efficiency while upholding safety and quality standards.

Required is an Associate degree in Electronics with 5 years’ experience; electro-mechanical background preferred and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent with 5 years' experience preferred.
  • Electro-Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Industrial maintenance experience highly desired.

Summary

The Electrician Control Technician C is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machines and equipment. This role focuses on electrical, robotic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems to ensure equipment reliability and production efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately diagnose and resolve problems involving machine control systems, including electrical, robotic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
  • Research, communicate, and implement solutions to technical issues.
  • Seek out and integrate additional skill sets as needed for project success.
  • Oversee and review project completion for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Make recommendations for preventive and process improvements.
  • Willingness to perform mechanical work as needed.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school majoring in Electronics; minimum five years’ experience preferred.
  • Electro-Mechanical experience preferred.
  • Previous industrial maintenance experience highly desired.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, robotic, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, safety rules, and operational procedures.
  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLC/HMI systems (Allen Bradley experience a plus).
  • Working knowledge of robotics, manipulators, pneumatics, hydraulics, and connectivity systems.
  • Understanding of welding concepts and metallurgy basics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Language and Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documents, reports, and correspondence.
  • Capability to apply mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, ratios, and statistical inference to practical problems.

Reasoning and Computer Skills

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and programming interfaces for industrial equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; occasionally walk, sit, climb, kneel, crawl, or balance.
  • Must be able to lift, reach, and perform tasks requiring close, distance, and depth vision.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions and risk of radiation.

Loud noise levels typical in a manufacturing environment.
