Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist I performs electroneurodiagnostic tests independently when ordered by a physician. The individual will perform patient care activities, gather the patient’s medical history, explain testing procedures, and prepare the patient for the procedures. The Technologist will monitor the patient during testing and report findings to the physician for analysis.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Educational qualifications must be from an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation if requiring education beyond high school diploma.

Minimum Required: Experience with patient care in neurodiagnostics and one of the following:

  • Successful completion of the web-based Neurodiagnostic Technology program through the Institute of Health Sciences (IOHS), or
  • Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic program or REEGT registry eligible through ABRET, with three years of experience as an EEG Tech.

Preferred/Optional: Associate degree in neurodiagnostics.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Experience with patient care in neurodiagnostics.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Required licenses/certifications include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within three months of hire.
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) certification from ABRET within three years of hire, if applicable.

Preferred/Optional: BLS certification at the time of hire; EEG Tech certification.
