Job summary

Responsibilities include tissue processing, embedding, ultramicrotomy, staining, and assisting other Renal Pathology areas as needed. A Bachelor’s in basic biological science is required; MSA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in basic biological science; microscopy courses or EM experience preferred.
• MSA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs some diagnostic electron microscopy steps under supervision.
• Receives, labels, and stocks supplies; monitors inventory and arranges orders.
• Operates ultramicrotome to cut thick (1 µm) and thin (80 nm) sections and stains.
• Assists other areas in Renal Pathology as needed and as training permits.
• Meets quality control and proficiency testing standards; participates in CQI activities.
• Files and organizes blocks, grids, and electronic images.
