Job Title: Electromechanical Technician – Mechanical Focus Level III

Department: Mechanical Assembly

Reports to: Supervisor of Mechanical Assembly

This job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity. Essential and marginal job functions are subject to modification.

Position Summary:

Master Assembler can build anything and everything given. Ability to work under pressure. Trouble shoots as needed. Can be used in the field. Assist lower level assemblers in methods and technics.

Essential Functions:

  • Able to build more complex pedestal systems
  • i.e. open yoke systems and direct drive systems
  • Able to perform backlash on al motor drives with no assistance
  • Able to perform basic machine work on parts
  • Able to level azimuth axis on 6+ points without assistance
  • Able to troubleshoot runout issues and set runout without assistance
  • Can identify all water intrusion points and can appropriately seal them without assistance
  • Able to unpin and pin connectors
  • Responsible for inspecting work.
  • Ability to assemble product to blueprint independently and troubleshoot.
  • Know how to measure parts to tolerances.
  • Understand proper sequence of Assy and its reasoning
  • Able to clean, assemble, and disassemble various components.
  • Experience with hand tools, epoxy, chemicals and adhesives.
  • Background in working with engineers and installing test loads.
  • Understanding and able to perform precision accuracy.
  • Able to execute tasks independently
  • Capable of building gear boxes and touching up paint as needed.
  • Finesse type building that requires complete understanding of cause and effect with each move
  • Work closely with Engineers on design, tolerances, stack-ups and assembly issues.

Basic knowledge of pedestals, machining parts, harnessing and routing

Language/Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Environmental Conditions

Indoors in normal manufacturing environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, and fumes. Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet customer deadlines. May move from one work location to another occasionally.

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas were under certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as Safety Glasses with Side Shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided.
