Electromechanical Maintenance Specialist - Plastics Manufacturing

Your mission Safeguard equipment reliability across motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical/electronic controls, conveyors, and injection molding assets - so plant downtime due to equipment issues stays at 10% or less.

Key outcomes
  • Rapid fault isolation and repair to restore production safely.
  • Preventive maintenance executed and documented on schedule (PM logs/books complete, auxiliary equipment tagged on completion).
  • Accurate quality-compliant maintenance records and parts requisitions processed with required approvals.
  • Consistent sitewide equipment safety checks and compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards.
Core responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Use observation (including sound) and test equipment to identify mechanical or control issues; disassemble as needed to access faulty components.
  • Verify part dimensions/tolerances; repair, adjust, or replace components and control instruments; clean, lubricate, and test-run machines.
  • Service electrical gear and control systems; complete maintenance request forms and close out work orders promptly.
  • Provide personal tools appropriate for the role.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of hands-on troubleshooting for injection molding machinery and related secondary equipment.
  • Robotics and PLC proficiency, including program troubleshooting and minor modifications with approved tools.
  • Industrial electrical knowledge preferred; strong grounding in machinery, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and procedure manuals; interpret complex technical instructions and variables.
  • EOAT design/fabrication and valve gate design/installation experience are advantageous.
  • Pass written and practical testing to operate a hi-lo; prior forklift experience required.
  • Willing to be certified on sit-down/stand-up forklifts and scissor lifts; adheres to forklift safety at all times.
  • Committed to continuous upskilling and willing to work overtime when necessary.
Physical and workplace expectations

The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs; frequent grasping and manual dexterity.
  • Prolonged standing with regular stooping, twisting, climbing, and repetitive motions (8-12 hour shifts).
  • Frequent bending at the waist (≥45°); reaching above shoulder and at/below shoulder height.
  • Ascend/descend ramps and stairs; enter/exit forklifts, standing lifts, trailers, ladders.
  • Work near hot molds, presses, cranes, and within tight spaces; no aversion to elevated work.
  • Operate in moderate-noise areas; recognize alarms/codes; close vision (≤20 inches) and color recognition required.
  • Hands-on 60-80% with some desk/computer work; capable of remaining stationary 50%-100% of the time as needed.
  • Ambient temperatures can reach ~90°F; perform effectively in hot and cold conditions.
  • Regular exposure to moving machinery, fumes, electrical shock risk, vibration, and high, precarious places.
