Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking an Electro Mechanic to support R&D in a double-sided molding DSM manufacturing platform for contact lenses. You will operate production equipment, troubleshoot major issues, and ensure GMP and data integrity compliance while assisting the supervisor to keep operations efficient.

Responsibilities include fixing complex equipment, improving processes, and maintaining maintenance programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent reading/writing/speaking English.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including Germany assignments.

  • Maintain 5S standards and ensure proper documentation per procedures.
  • Travel internationally as required, with possible Germany assignments up to two months.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Work temporary night shifts and weekends as needed.

Description

Support the R&D team in the development and validation of a new contact lens product utilizing a DSM (double-sided molding) manufacturing platform. Operate manufacturing equipment to produce and package contact lenses, troubleshoot and resolve significant technical issues affecting production, and ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with GMP and data integrity requirements. Assist the supervisor in maintaining efficient and consistent operations.

Major Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving complex production equipment used in contact lens development and manufacturing.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment and manufacturing processes supporting contact lens development and production.
  • Diagnose and resolve significant technical issues involving mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.
  • Support and improve maintenance programs, including preventive, corrective, predictive maintenance, and spare parts management.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to both new and existing Electro Mechanics as needed.
  • Maintain strong 5S standards and ensure documentation is complete and compliant with established procedures.
  • Travel internationally as required, with potential assignments in Germany lasting up to two months at a time.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude and contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Work temporary night shifts and weekends as operational needs require.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Experience
  • High school diploma supplemented by technical school certification, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Specialized diploma, degree, or industry certification in one or more technical disciplines, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, control systems, or equipment schematics.
  • Technical certification or related manufacturing experience, particularly for candidates without formal technical certification.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting production equipment, including mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software-related issues at the PLC/HMI level, with experience using platforms such as Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens, Zenon, WinCC, or similar systems.
  • Previous experience in medical device manufacturing, preferably within the contact lens industry.
